The parish of Llantrisant.
Chapels and Churches in Wales.
The parish of Llantrisant, contains the ancient town of Llantrisant. It became the southern boundary of the booming South Wales coalfield. In the northern end of the parish was Dinas which by 1832 was the first real pits and mining settlement in what became known as the Rhondda valley. Walter Coffin leased the mineral rights of lands belonging to Morgan David of Graigddu and Gwaunadda. From this place in 1810 arose a coal mining venture of great significance. See also wikipedia
